The Design Process – Help Your Clients Be Clearer

Received this from my business coach when I asked her – “How do you know what colors go with what? [in regards to working on a website design/customization] – not only is it a must to read this blog post – but the resources within it are amazing – have to share:

The Design Process – Help Your Clients Be Clearer.

For stock photos – I used istockphoto or photoxpress. They are recommending stockxpert which is now istockphoto or thinkstock.

Use http://www.colorschemer.com/ and see various color schemes here at http://www.colorschemer.com/schemes/

I use Photoshop for just about every project. You can also use a open source program called Gimp.

This resource is what really shocked me:

http://www.degraeve.com/color-palette/index.php

From the website it states:

Color Palette Generator

Enter the URL of an image to get a color palette that matches the image. This is useful for coming up with a website color palette that matches a key image a client wants to work with.

Really – how cool is that! Enjoy!! :)

Facebook FanPage Creator/Template

Check out the 2 pages I created from buying it to adding the code. I didn’t spend a lot of time and noticed I need to tweak the layout a little bit. It’s tweaked now!

But want to share this with you so you too can get your fan pages looking awesome. These templates are as easy as using WordPress.org. You enter in your information – you enter in the colors that you want.

Image site review: iStockphoto.com

Recently I used istockphoto.com to seek out unique food-related images for an ebook project. I first searched for related photos and then copied each image by saving the image right from istockphoto.com and placed them into the ebook for my client to approve. Once I received approval, I signed into my istockphoto.com account and went directly to the lightbox which I named after the ebook title so it was easy to locate what I needed and purchased the photos. I was then able to click on the photo from the lightbox to save me time from having to search for the images all over again.

Stock Image Guides:

If you have not used iStockphoto.com before, be aware that you do need credits in order to use their images. I have found it to be most beneficial to get a package and have xx credits available to me that I can use over the next year. Once the credits are used, I purchase a new package as needed.
