Do you run out of space in your inbox on your server?

Most online users use GoDaddy as your domain registarer. I also keep my email housed at GoDaddy with my domain and have ran into non-delivery of emails to my domain email account. This may seem like an easy solution – of course you need to buy more space according to GoDaddy OR you can auto-purge (aka delete emails after xx days) which won’t cost you more money and you won’t need more space unless you use the 1GB before the email are being deleted.

Well Option B sounds great. If you are like me – you need to go in and launch each webmail under each domain and then you right click on Inbox – and select autopurge. Once you get this far – then you need to select one of the options. It is probably set to Never – which is default. I have been setting them to 180 days.

Figured after that long – I probably don’t need the email message anymore.

Hope this tip helps you!

Helpful Tool: Status Set Go

I was most recently introduced to this amazing tool. What I like most is the “Status Ideas” feature. The benefit of this feature is that some days you may just have no clue what creative update you could write. This is where the Status Ideas feature comes into play so you can post something like this:

Another great feature is posting to your profile wall, any fan page you are admin for or any group you belong to. This tool can definitely help you to stay active on Facebook and become more engaged by asking for someone to “Like” your status or to “Comment” on your status. Ready to check it out? Jump to Link within page coding

You may have a really LONG sales page and you want to have a place to jump your viewer right to the buy button here’s HOW to do it:

Place this coding where you want them to end up (aka your buy button – for example – in this example – I would place this coding the line above your buy button coding):

<a name=”checkout”></a>

(NOTE: Feel free to change checkout or Click here to Purchase My Product to anything you want!)

Then – place this where you want to take the viewer

<a href=”#checkout”></a>
Or

<a href=”#checkout”>If you know you are ready, click here to checkout</a>

Then you can also use this format to link from another webpage, or even a Squidoo lens (for the project I’m working on!)

Ex: http://domain.com/#checkout (if home page)

Ex: http://domain.com/salespagetitle/#checkout (if sales page)

NOTE: Test it to make sure it works once you have it set. If it doesn’t – leave a comment with a description of what you are trying to achieve and I will try to help guide you.

WP Update ERROR: /wp-includes/general-template.php on line 2102

I have been trying to update a client’s website and when I updated it – I received this error:

/wp-includes/general-template.php on line 2102

The main reason: was due to a plugin – PopUp Domination

Once I deactivated the PopUp Domination then the site was running just fine. The way to fix this was a bit confusing – I had to replace the wp-includes folder with a fresh version which I downloaded. And then I deactivated all the plugins and updated the WordPress, the theme and then each

Have a video that needs editing?

With Camtasia I can help you edit your video as you want it.

I would need one of the following formats to work with the video:

  • mp4
  • flv
  • swf
  • wmv
  • mov
  • avi
  • m4v
  • mp3 (of course, this would be only audio – no video)
  • rm
  • camv
  • gif

How To Use Google Books Preview Features On Your Website?

I had this listed as a helpful resource…

  • Link to a Google Books Preview page
  • Add a button that opens a preview in a pop-up window
  • Embed a 500 by 400 pixel preview inline, right in the page
  • Link to a separate preview page for a book on your site
  • Link to a Google Books Preview page on a Co-Branded Search site

Move to New Hosting

I utilize BackupBuddy when I move a site to a new hosting setup. Here are the steps I have noted so you can see how simple it is and I would highly recommend you getting BackupBuddy on your website or signing up for my basic backup package for your wordpress websites.

  1. Run a Full Backup
  2. Download/Save the Full Backup
  3. Download/Save the ImportBuddy.php file
  4. Add new domain to new hosting
  5. Upload to new hosting – Full Backup and Import Buddy files (you can do this through the File Manager in Cpanel or FTP Access)
  6. Go to the temp URL for your new hosting and run ImportBuddy
  7. In your new hosting – add a fresh database and user and connect the two together – use this data when you are completing backupbuddy
  8. Once you reach the file step – you can view your site to ensure it was moved properly.
  9. Change DNS at the domain registrar and Update the Temp URL

How To Backup A Website: Files and Folders

There’s been quite a few requests for a tutorial to backup a website or blog. So I’m going to do a 3 part series this week covering:

  1. Backing up files and folders
  2. Backing up database
  3. Reversing a WordPress upgrade

You may wonder at the third one. It does seem like an odd topic and not related to website backups but it is very relevant because in order to revert to an older version of WordPress, you will need to begin with backups and the method of backup we will show you in this series will make it a whole lot easier to restore a failed WordPress upgrade.

In this tutorial, we will be demonstrating the backup and restore using cPanel because that’s what we use and that’s what we like. There are many ways to do a backup. There are also plugins to help you and make it all automatic and easy. This tutorial will show the manual (and free) way because… let’s just say, I’m the type who believes that you should know how to light a candle or a lamp if your power goes off.

Now we’re ready, let’s go! [Read more...]
